Interested in the horse ridden in the 1960’s by Clu Gallagher/Emmet Ryker in the Virginian as well as ridden by Denny Miller/ Duke Shannon on Wagon Train. The horse had a flaxen mane & tail, white stockings & bald face. Does anyone know what breed the horse was or anything about the horse?

My favorite is Scout, ridden by Tonto.

I especially like the horse used for most of the series, the one that has a distinctive stripe down his left leg.

Should add Audie Murphy’s horse – used in almost every movies he made GOLDEN RULE, Quarter horse. He had a ranch, raised and bred quarter horses.
Word is that they were very well bred.
