STORYLINE

Tough as nails Assit. District Attorney Paul Ryan (Robert Conrad) fights crime in the courtroom. His counter part is often the beautiful and bright Public Defender Katherine Benson (Julie Cobb). Presiding over the procedures was fair and honest Judge Simmons (Victor Izay).

Besides the talented cast the thing that set this courtroom drama series apart was a voice-over narration (in Conrad’s voice) that explained the legal jargon and procedures as they were taking place. It was actually quite educational and allowed the viewer to feel more comfortable with what was going on.

That said the downside was that the show was only 1/2 hour and often seemed rushed. The real killer however was it’s scheduling. It was on opposite the Brady Bunch and I guess all those kids and all those giggles were just to much for it.

Interestingly it was replaced mid season by Sanford and Sons which went on to be a huge hit, go figure.
