Candlestick Park

San Francisco Giant’s stadium is named as Candlestick Park. Legends and stories will swirl around like the great winds that used to blow thru “The Stick”.

The Beatles played their last concert ever there on August 29, 1966 and the oft Superbowl winning 49ers call it home. The Giants moved to Pac Bell Park, a baseball only stadium after the 1999 season.

In 1995 San Francisco sold the naming rights (shame on you!) so that it is now supposed to be called 3COM Park. Meaning no disrespect to the good people at 3Com, but I can’t stand the renaming of great fields and stadiums with corporate signatures. It lacks character and provides no reverence for history.
